Peter who was working in the hiking backpack section when I went is awesome. He is an expert and knows all about hiking equipment. He recommended several backpacks across different price points, explained the pros and cons of each and helped me find the best fit and feature set according to my needs. He showed me how to adjust the backpack to fit my body, what to look for and took the time to do trial walks with each. I ended up with a very high quality backpack and he also explained some accessories that help with winter hiking and reducing knee impact.

The staff is incredible. I bought an Allpa 35 Cotapaxi backpack on the recommendation of a very helpful woman yesterday. Got through Billy Bishop today and packed SO much stuff in it. Great recommendation and was very kind! Knew so much about every backpack practically.

Today I had the best customer service I've had in SO long! The team member was absolutely brilliant and was so helpful with giving direction on where to find products I was looking for and teaching me how things worked. The store itself is bright and well-signed with everything you need outdoor-related. I didn't get the employee's name who helped me, but he was so proactive with offering assistance to everyone who walked by. (If the manager is reading this, he's on the upper level in the backpacks area in one of my pictures. I asked the cashier his name and he wasn't sure who was working in that department today) Thank you for all your help!

The assortment is great but i want to particularly mention the staff's attentiveness. I was helped by a few lovely people but Dave/David (sorry, i did not fully catch the name) was particularly helpful. He gave me some very useful advices on winter footwear and even went an extra mile checking the weather at the location i was needing the shoes for and informing me where I can get shoes MEC did not have. Such a warm, down-to-earth and friendly person.

I've had a great experience with MEC Toronto! I recently bought some mountain biking shorts there and I'm really happy with them. The staff was super helpful and knowledgeable, and they helped me find the perfect pair. The shorts themselves are high-quality and comfortable, and they've held up well on my rides. I highly recommend shopping at MEC for your outdoor gear needs.

I’ve been shopping at MEC for nearly 20 years, and the service has always been excellent. The staff are consistently helpful, professional, and courteous. Today, Alex helped me choose a new pair of shoes and was exceptionally patient and knowledgeable, especially given my collapsed arch. Even in a busy store, he took the time to make sure I found the right fit. Thank you to Alex and the entire MEC team for the continued great service.

Looking for something to do if you're broke or just really cheap and you want to impress your girl? Come to mountain equipment co-op for the free bouldering wall they have. All you have to do is sign a waiver. 😁❤️ Now besides that, the store had amazingly artistically displayed displays; very visually appealing, and the texture of the clothes are very ... skin-aully appealing. 🏕️☘️ I specifically liked a white collar shirt with thin vinyl material that I forgot to take a picture of. Fortunately, the store is very easy to navigate, so I'll be able to find it perfectly fine if I want to buy it. The staff is very friendly and it's very child friendly. 🌈😁 I highly recommend coming here ❤️❤️❤️

It is never "just a backpack." I’m looking at my MEC pack and thinking about the sheer history woven into its straps. This thing has seen the world. It has held my life when I thought it was crumbling, keeping my world contained when everything else felt like it was falling apart. It has carried my clothes into the unknown during adventures that felt like pure hope, and it has sat in the dust during moments of deep despair and sadness. We talk about "gear" in terms of durability and zippers, but the real value of an MEC pack is its capacity to hold a human narrative. It has seen the joy, the struggle, and everything in between. It is a sturdy, stable witness to a life lived in full. To anyone just "popping in" to read this: you’re not just buying a bag. You’re buying a vessel for the things you haven't even experienced yet. Mine has seen it all, and it’s still standing. That is the true legacy of this place.

My first outdoor store love and still my go-to after all these years. It's become a place near and dear to my family—we've outfitted countless camping trips, hikes, and adventures here. The gear selection is excellent across categories, from technical climbing equipment to casual weekend camping needs. Prices are fair, and their sales are genuinely worthwhile when they run them. Staff are knowledgeable without being pushy, and the store hosts interesting events and booths (I once saw Jeff of Jeff's Maps there, which made my day). Quality gear makes outdoor experiences better, and this is where I trust to find it. Never regretted an investment made here.
